My experience in Italy, Matera… di George Yacoub, Jounieh(Liban)
_I have never heard of place named Matera in Italy before, not even Bari in Italy, but as soon as I arrived to Matera which is around an hour from Bari’s airport, all I saw was Churches, Museums and ancient houses which are all joined together. I reached the hotel and went into the room which was a modern cave, very cozy; I rested in bed for awhile and then went for a walk in the village. I sat in a café and ordered an espresso and started to observe, the coffee was delicious, I then continued my walk and had a sandwich which was full of bresaola and mozzarella, it was so fresh, the price was so cheap too, I then went back to the hotel, took a nap and went to an event, once the event was over I went back to my room, it felt so relaxing in bed and I slept all night like a baby. As soon as I woke up the next day, I went for my morning coffee then walked around then shopping, the employees were very helpful, friendly and even the people in the shop were advising me about the sizes, what I loved is that as soon as people know you’re a tourist they help you with all their heart… I then went for lunch to a restaurant with Christina, one of the organizers and her friends; again I was very impressed by the home made food they make which is completely different than cities, not commercially… I then went back to my room and prepared myself for the evening event, I was the first prize winner organized by the Cultural Association Energheia, Matera, and so I went and did my speech and got awarded, once the event was over, I went for dinner with Christina and other people, the dinner which was cheeses and all types of hams, once done, I went back to my room and had a very good sleep… The third day I woke up and had breakfast, the croissant which was amazing…
Later on I said Good Bye to Matera and went to the airport and continued to taste the deliouse food there…
I had a wonderful experience in Matera and the people of Energheia, Christina Foti and Felice were full of care and hospitality and even the people of Matera were full kindness…
I thank Christina and Felice from my heart for this beautiful experience…
